Well, it’s that time of year again, where my husband can be found in the evenings and on the weekends racing around trying to finish projects around the house, in time for a party.. this time it’s Maya’s birthday party, which is happening on Sunday. I think maybe we should have more parties at our house, to inspire my husband to finish things. :) Last year at this time, Chris was racing to get the new tile backsplash installed in the kitchen - and he did it - but never finished it, and here it is a year later already! There is a row that still needs to be grouted and then the nice clear coat that should protect the tile, needs to be done. Now we have the problem of little spots & stains on the tile since it’s been sitting ‘unprotected’ for a year - and of course it’s my problem to get the tile clean now! (If my lovely husband would’ve just finished the project a year ago, I wouldn’t have this extra work.) There was also work in the bathroom, from when he installed a new bathtub back in the summer…. We had to re-texture the walls around the tub and then paint some more. Gladly, that is done, since I enjoyed painting last weekend. :) What else… the white moldings needed to be installed in Chloe’s room since we freshly painted & decorated it many months ago - and as of 2 nights ago that is done, and some touch up painting just needs to be done around the doors & window. I’m telling you, the little things undone in our house are endless… At one point I made a list for each room in our house of ALL the things that needed to be done and it is still stuck to our fridge - many waiting still to be done. On Monday, my mom came up and we re-decorated Maya’s room. I will have to take pictures & share them on here sometime! At least we didn’t have to do any painting in there, like we did when re-decorating Chloe’s room. So we left her walls the same - 2 are light yellow and 2 are light blue - which is the colors that went with the crib/baby theme. We took down the blue & yellow star stickers from the wall and then my Mom put up the pretty flowery border I bought a long time ago. She also has been crazy busy trying to get Maya’s new bed-spread and curtains done - we had picked out 3 different colors of material to make it and she just got it all done and it just looks beautiful in there now! It feels good to know that at least 2 rooms in my house look well put-together & nicely decorated. :)
So in other news - we have a fun event with our Church this weekend. Erin and I are the head of the Fellowship Ministry and we come up with ideas for events & activities all year long to promote fellowship in our Church and this weekend we’re doing something brand new! We reserved room at the Spaghetti Warehouse (wonderful Italian restaurant) and a theatre group is coming in and will do a Murder Mystery performance while we eat dinner! It’s from 6:30 to 9 and we had a limit of 100 people who could sign up and it looked like we were going to have about 50, but after last Sunday’s service we had 50 more people sign up, to total 100!! We were completely amazed, but excited… and now since neither of us have been to anything like this, we are hoping & praying that it is worth the money everyone’s spent to go! (And we hope the content of the show is nothing ’questionable’ since even one of our pastors & his wife is attending!) :) So that will be fun... we hope!
And my wonderful sister will be babysitting the girls that night… her husband is out of town for a little over a week now, on his first mission trip overseas! He is leaving today for Uruguay with a group of men from his Church, so say a prayer for him - for safe travels and that it is a life-changing experience for him - and pray that my sister is okay being alone in their house the whole week! :)
And don’t forget, Saturday is also when we have to set our clocks ahead! We’re going to lose an hour, but it will be nice to have the sun stay shining even later in the day! Soon enough it will be warm and sunny & we’ll be spending our evenings outside again... I can’t wait! (The girls have been riding their tricycles in the house lately and there’s just no room!)
Speaking of looking forward to nice weather - I am greatly looking forward to June - because we have officially scheduled our vacation to Mackinaw! My mother-in-law called the owners of the house we stayed in last year and it turn out it IS available the last week of June - when we want to go! And the better news is that he raised the price a hundred dollars more since last year, but since we are ‘returning’ visitors, he is giving it to us for last years price! YEA! I am completely excited… and I’m going to start looking online to find new & fun things to do that we didn’t do last year... Like going to a big Zoo in the U.P.! We are definitely heading there this year with the girls.. they’d love it.
Well, I think I’ve probably written enough and should get back to work for now! :) Have a good end to your week...
